Spa Spotlight: VMV Hypoallergenics – The Sensitive Skin Experts
We know the struggle of having sensitive, reactive skin. Tons of brands and spas call themselves “hypoallergenic” or “sensitive skin experts”, but who knows what they really mean? We just know that when we test out products, we sometimes find ourselves itching, turning red, or feeling pain. All that makes us want to avoid trying anything new.
But having sensitive skin shouldn’t mean you can’t find effective products. 1 in 4 people in the United States have a skin allergy, and yet most skincare products still contain the most common skin allergens. Even brands that label themselves as natural, hypoallergenic, or organic, can’t always be trusted!
Meet VMV Hypoallergenics, The only brand in the United States with VERIFIED hypoallergenic products. That means all of their products have been tested for all known skin allergens, and all products are re-tested every two years to make sure they stay allergen-free as new discoveries are made.
We went to VMV Hypoallergenics to try their fragrance-free, clean, hypoallergenic products for ourselves and we’ll just say this: we don’t want to try anything else.
Our super-informed esthetician, Suzanne, let us know that a lot of her clients have reactive skin, not necessarily sensitive skin. That basically means that because they’re using products with tons of bad ingredients that aren’t that well-tested, they tend to react to new products. But if they use clean, safe products, they won’t have a problem — because they don’t have any major skin allergies.
Suzanne used VMV’s Red Better products on my skin, because I’m prone to redness and inflamed skin. I immediately felt a calming sensation on my skin as she cleansed it. After she “got the New York off” of my face and performed extractions (very gently– extractions should be uncomfortable, but not painful), she applied a collagen mask to help hydrate and slow any signs of aging. The facial ended with applying sunscreen and a lip balm, leaving me ready to go back into New York with a clean, relaxed face.
With most facials and new products, I don’t tend to have any major reactions, but I do almost always see some amount of redness– I thought that was just the way my face was. But after my facial at VMV Hypoallergenics, I had no redness, no reaction, nothing! My skin felt soft, clear, and clean. I will definitely going back to VMV Hypoallergenics– and I can’t wait to watch the way their Red Better product line (available for purchase online and in their boutique) helps my redness long-term.
Even if you don’t have reactive or sensitive skin, VMV Hypoallergenics is worth a visit. You’ll learn a ton about your skin, the products you use on it, and what ingredients you should avoid. Lucky for you, VMV is offering summer specials for May and June— their custom surf and turf facial is just $99 through June. Book your appointment today!
